This template captures the full picture of a customer segment, who they are, what defines them, what they genuinely need, what holds them back, and the context that shapes how they show up. Name, characteristics, needs, blockers, summary and background. Everything your team needs to design for a real human, not a made-up one. Because designing for the average customer means designing well for nobody.

Start with Name and Key Characteristics, keep it grounded in what you know, not what you assume. Work through What They Need and What Holds Them Back, be honest, especially about the blockers. Then complete the Summary and Background on the right, this is the narrative that brings the whole profile to life. One
