Meta has launched Meta One, bringing enhanced artificial intelligence features across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp through a new subscription service.
The development matters far beyond the technology sector.
Meta’s platforms sit inside the customer journey of millions of businesses. Customers discover products through Instagram, ask questions through WhatsApp, read comments on Facebook and increasingly use AI-supported tools to decide what to buy.
Meta One is designed to support content creation, audience engagement and business management, with more than 50 features introduced across the wider platform ecosystem.
For brands, that creates opportunity but it also changes what customer behaviour means.
When AI recommends the content, supports the conversation and influences the purchase, businesses need to understand which part of the journey genuinely changed the customer’s decision.
Was it the product? The creator presenting it? The recommendation produced by AI? The convenience of communicating through WhatsApp? Or the social proof surrounding the brand?
Traditional surveys will not answer all of those questions.
Market research will increasingly need to connect what customers say with how they behave across algorithm driven platforms. It will also need to distinguish genuine customer preference from decisions shaped by automated recommendations and increasingly personalised content.
Meta is not simply adding new features.
It is changing the environment in which customers discover, compare, trust and buy and businesses will need new ways to understand the decisions being made inside it.
